Our Story
How It Started
Seedloans started with a phone call between Elizabeth, Sabrina, Lisa and Merlin in April 2020. The four friends had worked on joint projects before and were exchanging their experience about the first worldwide Covid-Lockdown. While people in Germany were stacking toilet paper and spaghetti, in Uganda seed supply chains were interrupted, thus prices spiked.
We wanted to do something against it and the idea was born to give out seeds to female smallholders and let them pay back with part of their harvest.
With our model we gained a lot of interest from experts in the field and gained many valuable advisors.
Five seasons later, we have a strong team, consisting of seven full-time team members in Uganda and volunteers that support from Germany.
Being an international team, based in different countries of the world, we directly started to work remotely and agile with the whole team.
